Why hire a Certified Divorce and Co-Parenting Coach?
As a Certified Divorce Coach, I am trained to partner with you in managing the emotional and practical matters of divorce. If you’re contemplating ending your marriage, we will examine the various considerations of this change. In the separation and divorce process, we will explore your needs and wishes related to finances. We will organize your thoughts and prepare the materials for the work to be done with other divorce professionals, such as lawyers, mediators, and financial advisors. These preparations will save you time and money in the divorce process.
In my work with parents, I provide support and skill-building for more peaceful co-parenting. I help parents define their co-parenting values and goals, consider their communication style and methods, develop Parenting Plans, and co-parent through a lens that puts their child’s lived experience of a two-household family in focus.
Divorce Coaching is recognized by the American Bar Association as a facet of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). A movement toward ADR is making gains in the shape of more creative, interest-based resolutions in divorce. This is important to those divorcing and has tremendous potential to improve children’s experience of their parents’ divorce.
Finally, as a leader in the movement toward standards for divorce coaching as a professional practice, I encourage those seeking a coach to consider the training and certification of a coach hire with discernment. As my colleague Tracy Callahan, Founder of Divorce Coaches Academy (DCA®), wrote, “Divorce coaching is a distinct professional discipline….Ask for credentials. Ask for training depth. Ask what standards govern the work. Who trained them? Was there supervised skills development? [Is there ongoing] Ethical enforcement? [How do they articulate their] Clear differentiation from therapy, advocacy, or life coaching?”
I will be glad to speak to how coaching might support you and your unique situation in a complimentary consultation.
How do you bring value in terms of co-parenting?
I specialize in co-parenting and Parenting Plans. In my work with parents, I offer support and skill-building for more peaceful co-parenting. We will define your co-parenting values and goals, consider communication style and methods, develop an initial Parenting Plan, or clarify your existing one. Perhaps most importantly, we will explore your opportunities to co-parent through a lens that puts your child’s lived experience of a two-household family in focus.
Do you work with married/coupled parents on co-parenting?
Absolutely. A co-parenting relationship is the dynamic and mechanics of shared responsibility, impact and authority in a child’s upbringing. One certainly co-parents with their spouse or ex-partner and may also seek my support for co-parenting with a new partner, as a new partner or stepparent, or even with a grandparent who is in a parenting role.
Married/coupled parents have a marital relationship and a co-parenting relationship and the co-parenting relationship presents unique challenges. Peace and clarity in a co-parenting dynamic matters immensely to a child’s experience of their parent and their home life.
Where do you practice?
I meet with clients via video conference. So, although I’m based in Los Angeles, my clients can be virtually anywhere.
Do you offer support aside from one-on-one coaching?
In addition to one-on-one coaching, I work with co-parents in pairs and extensions of your family, such as new partners and grandparents.
